Sleeping Giant, Together We Can

(Bridget Wolf)
Bridget Wolf 1991
Dear friends, family and companions on this journey of life,

This song came to me while I lived in New York City in 1991. I was feeling deep inner conflict about receiving a gift of an electronic piano, a Yamaha Clavinova, from my parents (a most welcome and precious gift which certainly inspired me to create music at a whole new level) -- another item to use precious electricity -- during the time when the James Bay II hydroelectric power project was being put together in Canada. Another occasion where the needs of people in a large city for electricity put a burden on an ecosystem, an indigenous culture and changed the face of a landscape for a very long time. It was clear the devastation James Bay I hydroelectric power project had already wrought upon the people and landscape in Quebec.

My heart couldn't resolve or contain the inner conflict of our human impact on our precious Planet Earth, and the heavy toll this places on people connected to the land, and this song was born.

I hope you will help me in whatever ways you are guided to help this song be heard by people in all parts of the world.

And in the spirit of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., may we each find the strength to overcome all fear and rise up and do what is ours to do each day with the hope and vision that we assist our world in transforming in our lifetime to a world of peace, love, joy and freedom for all!

May Peace, Love, Joy and Freedom be yours now and always!

Bright blessings,
Bridget

“Sleeping Giant, Together We Can” is the new title as of 2009.

The world is out of control; the balance is lost
When will we realize where we’re heading?
The lust for power and wealth is destroying the health
Of all the beautiful creation

STOP! I need to get off
These times are too confusing
Stop! I need to get off
There’s no time left for musing

The world has clearly forgotten the meaning of true justice
Since when is justice for so few?
Beware any chameleon bearing bent crosses (fascists)
Why do so few make all the rules?

STOP! I need to get off
These times are too confusing
Stop! I need to get off
There’s no time left for musing

Listen with our hearts now
Listen for our own truth now
Listen with our souls now
Listen we all play a part now

Our hearts lay silently breaking as the world is wasted
A deed of our own thoughtless making
In the dreamy unconscious lies an answer
When will the sleeping giant awaken?

Listen to the earth now
Listen! Winds howl and rage now
Listen to the sobs and sighs
All species are crying

Feel it in our bones now
Cry out! Spill all our tears now
Rise up! Let's take a new course
Let’s work to find a better way

~ Instrumental Interlude ~

Together we can find the balance
To sustain the myriad forms of life
Together we can build new bridges
and work together for all time

Together is our last hope now
Together we can build a brand new life
Together while there’s still some time left
Together say, “YES” to all life!

Sing out! Heads held high now
Shout out! Voices loud and clear now
Rise up! Declare a new way
Let’s walk together hand in hand!

Together we can find the balance
To sustain the myriad forms of life
Together we can build new bridges
And work together for all time

Together is our last hope now
Together we can build a brand new life
Together while there's still some time left
Together say, “YES” to all life!

Sing out! Heads held high now
Shout out! Voices loud and clear now
Rise up! Declare a new way
Let’s walk together hand in hand!
